Role Overview

Are you an experienced Formulation Chemist looking for a role with a world leading pharmaceutical company, where you will influence a small team of chemists?

We currently have an exciting opportunity available for an Analytical Technical Leader to join a global pharmaceutical company based in Northern Ireland. The primary role of the Analytical Technical Leader is to carry out early enabling formulation activities, such as dissolution rate or solubility measurements in different media, assessment of the development needs of the different APIs depending on their intended use, development of simple, early enabling fit-for-purpose formulations, identification of formulation strategies for the enhancement of the solubility of the APIs, etc, directly on behalf of the client or to support screening projects.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Analytical Technical Leader will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Job specific knowledge - Provide technical management of assigned complex projects, specifically physicochemical characterisation of small molecule APIs, i.e. pKa, logP/D, IDR, solubility etc.

2. Results delivery - Plan project work for self and other team members in order to meet deliverables of the team.

3. Customer Focus - Be responsive to customer requirements, taking care to identify and record any scope changes that may impact the company. Lead and chair teleconferences with clients to discuss projects results and / or requirements

4. Communication - contribute to and lead technical discussions and present technical information to a wider audience.

5. Quality - Ensure the appropriate GMP procedures are followed consistently in all areas of work. You will prepare and review data and documents accurately and efficiently, in line with the department's culture of Right First Time. You will communicate and investigate deviations from GMP procedures in a timely manner. Identify and investigate OOS, OOT, OOP and OOE results and to inform the appropriate member of staff according to procedure.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Analytical Technical Leader we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. At least a degree in a relevant life sciences or pharmacy focussed discipline, plus experience working in a pharmaceutical or API development facility with a focus on formulation.

2. Proven industry experience in plus experience with physicochemical characterisation of small molecule APIs i.e. pKa, logP/D, IDR, solubility, etc.

3. We are looking for an experienced chemist who can lead by example, demonstrate excellent communication skills and offer a customer driven approach to their work. You will be expected to deliver technical presentations and coach less able members of the team.
