Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Biochemistry Research Assistant to join a leading clinical-stage biotechnology company based in the Hertfordshire area. As the Biochemistry Research Assistant you will be responsible for supporting the Biochemistry projects by carrying out routine cell culture for protein production.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Biochemistry Research Assistant will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Your role will involve carrying out all routine cell culturing as well as performing protein purification.

2. You will prepare samples for purification and carry out column chromatography.

3. As the Biochemistry Research Assistant you will perform protein purification using a range of methods and further perform analytical techniques on biochemistry preparations such as qPCR, ELISA, AKTA and SDS-PAGE.

4. Assisting in the smooth running of the Biochemistry team, ensuring validity and reliability of data at all times will be included in your role. Attending high-priority meetings and assisting running the laboratory is important in your role.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Biochemistry Research Assistant we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant Masters in a Biological Sciences related discipline such as Molecular Biology or Biological Sciences.

2. Proven industry experience with mammalian cell culturing, biochemistry and molecular biology techniques is necessary.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with protein purification as well as HPLC protein purification would be highly beneficial to your application.
