Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Bioinformatician to join an exciting clinical-stage gene therapy company based in London, and in Philadelphia and California US, who’s goal is developing innovative medicines to preserve people’s sight. As the Bioinformatician you will be responsible for creating a robust bioinformatics infrastructure to support clinical development and research teams in using ‘omic data to identify targetable patient populations and clinical biomarkers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Bioinformatician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. As the bioinformatician you will lead the development and maintenance of a relational database handling genetic data from clinical trial patients, to inform genetically-defined populations

2. You will support the ongoing genetic testing process of our clinical trial patients, curating high quality genomic data and reviewing patient results for trial eligibility

3. You will lead bioinformatic analysis of proteomic datasets generated through clinical trials and academic interactions to answer biological questions and inform clinically meaningful biomarkers

4. To be successful in your role as the bioinformatician you will need to have strong programming skills in Python, Unix, or Linux and statistical analysis in R

5. You will be using your experience in statistical genetics or statistical bioinformatics to analyse data from various sources to deliver solutions to complex problems

Role Requirements


To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Bioinformatician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. PhD qualification or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or similar discipline

2. Strong programming skills in R with demonstrated ability to develop and automate analysis scripts and tools for broader use, and experience in any of: Unix, Python, Linux and shell scripting

3. Demonstrable experience with using bioinformatic tools to analyse genomic data


4. Experience post PhD, integrating and analysing ‘omics and biomedical datasets

5. Proficiency in the development and use of relational databases
