Are you an experienced Business Development Manager looking for an exciting new job opportunity?

We are currently looking for a Business Development Manager to join a leading scientific company based in the Midlothian area.

As the Business Development Manager you will be responsible for developing and supporting commercial interactions arising from the work of the companys scientists to maximise revenue and commercial outcomes.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Business Development Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will be responsible for identifying potential new commercial partners and building relationships across the animal health and aquaculture sectors, both nationally and internationally.

2. You will also work closely with the scientists to identify opportunities where their research may yield commercial outcomes and coordinate and drive initiatives to translate this research. This will include supporting scientists and companies in relation to collaborative research/project funding, including assisting with grant writing and costings.

3. As the Business Development Manager, you will also be responsible for the formalisation of (potentially complex) commercial relationships via contract negotiation, drafting and review.

4. Additionally, you will identify and protect the intellectual property of the company, working closely with patent attorneys, including the management of the patent estate.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Business Development Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant Biological Science degree in microbiology, virology, immunology or related subject is essential for this role.

2. Track record of post-graduation work experience in a commercial environment is also essential. Experience acquired in the animal health, aquaculture or other relevant biological scientific field would be highly advantageous.

3. A working knowledge of patenting process and experience applying for funding in an academic or commercial setting is also required. You will also need to have knowledge of product development legislation/life cycle for biological diagnostic(s) and/or vaccine(s).
