Role Overview

Are you a Business Development professional looking for an opportunity with an innovative world leading organisation?

We are currently looking for a Business Development Transactions Manager to join a world leading life sciences organisation based in the London area.

The role of the Business Development Transaction Manager is to identify and transact projects to support our leading UK-based partners in industry and academia to achieve the annual business goals. You will build and maintain relationships to ensure a flow of high quality projects leveraging the unique expertise and capabilities. The Business Development Manager will assess the marketplace to identify needs / gaps and will work closely with the wider team to establish collaborations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Business Development Transactions Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Build relationships in your territory (UK South) with UK academic, clinical and commercial communities.

2. Build close working relationships with UK Technology Transfer Offices

3. Identify and close transactions to secure fee-for-service and grant funded (e.g. Innovate UK, Wellcome Trust, MRC etc.) projects.

4. Work closely with the operational teams to build new partner relationships and strengthen existing partnerships.

5. Analyse the “market” (academic and commercial) to enable targeting of organisations developing new technologies.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Business Development Transactions Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. At least degree qualified in a life sciences focussed discipline - biological sciences preferred. You will also have experience of sales / business development within the life sciences sector. Examples of such experience could include: key account and customer relationship management, technology transfer in an academic or innovative environment, grant supported R&D collaborations or working in a global business development, commercial or technology transfer role.

2. Working knowledge of the UK and European grants e.g. Innovate UK, Wellcome Trust, Horizon 2020

3. You will have strong influencing and leadership skills. Understands influencing, stakeholder management and negotiation strategies. You will be highly motivated, pragmatic and practical to support the mission of the organisation.
