Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Cheminformatician to join a leading drug discovery CRO based in the Hertfordshire area. As the Cheminformatician you will be responsible for keeping the drug discovery software solutions and databases up to date, as well as developing brand new cheminformatics techniques used across a wide range of Target Identification projects through Hit ID, Hit Expansion and Lead Optimisation right through to Candidate Selection and Development.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Cheminformatician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will work with and initiate cheminformatics algorithms and introduce research examples to assess their impact on projects.

2. You will be developing suitable processes and workflows that can be functional across the whole drug discovery collection.

3. You will work coherently and efficiently with both medicinal and computational chemists to turn their feedback into improving algorithms.

4. You will consistently play a key role in successfully moving projects from the early stages of identifying targets, all the way to dynamic drug discovery projects.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Cheminformatician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. PhD in Cheminformatics/Computational Chemistry or a related field

2. A working knowledge and practical experience with a coding language (ideally Python), open source and proprietary cheminformatics libraries e.g. RDKit, and good experience with database handling and management.
