Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Senior Computational Chemist to join a leading Drug Discovery CRO company based in the Nottinghamshire area. As the Computational Chemist you will be involved in a variety of scientific activities and will have a significant degree of input into any project you work on. As a Senior Computational Chemist you will focus on lead generation and lead optimisation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. You will carry out structure based design - docking and ligand optimisation. You will also work on fragment based design projects.

2. You will carry out Ligand based design - SAR analysis of project data sets and calculation of ADME/TOX relevant properties.

3. You will carry out virtual screening - using protein x-ray structures and a variety of ligand based methods such as shape and fingerprint based methods.

4. You will conduct protein sequence analysis and homology modelling, as well as multiple sequence alignment and homology modelling.

Role Requirements

1. PhD in Computational Chemistry or a related discipline.

2. Experience with structure based design. Familiarity with data pipelining tools and an ability to script in python.

3. A drug discovery background gained within a pharmaceutical company or a CRO is preferred.
