Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Group Heath and Safety Manager to join a leading life sciences company. The role will cover all UK sites (Yorkshire, Scotland, Midlands, South East) and therefore we are looking for someone who is flexible over travel.

Our client are leading provider of integrated, high quality drug discovery, development and analytical services to the global life sciences and food sectors. The company was formed as a result of targeted acquisition and organic growth, and has the in-house expertise and resource to support customers with projects spanning from target discovery to the clinic, adding value and IP throughout the discovery pathway.

Health and Safety is critical to our client. The role of Health and Safety Manager will ensure legal compliance and risk management through a robust system of policies and procedures across all sites, providing a first-class health and safety provision. As a central contact for all HSE matters across the business, it will drive the culture of Health, Safety, and the Environment, to ensure that ethics are adopted throughout the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Group Heath and Safety Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Leadership of the Health and Safety function, and a small team of local site representatives.

2. Audit the businesses to measure HSE standards and implement remedial actions.

3. Lead the implementation of the Health and Safety strategy and best practice across the business.

4. Track HSE standards across the business and engage staff to mitigate risk.

5. Ensure all health and safety procedures, safe systems of work and COSHH assessments are followed in line with relevant regulations.

6. Provide advice and expertise on environmental management, including the management of hazardous waste and environmental permitting and environmental auditing.

7. Provide advice and expertise on a range of specialist areas including fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise and occupational diseases.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Group Heath and Safety Manager - UK wide we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a science or engineering focussed discipline. Additionally, a CMIOSH or IOSH qualification.

2. Proven industry experience gained in a similar Health and Safety Management role. Specifically, NEBOSH National Diploma and NEBOSH National Certificate in Fire Safety or equivalent and experience of working with Occupational Health including implementing health surveillance programmes.

3. You must hold a UK driver's licence as UK wide travel is essential for this role.
