Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Group Leader - Drug Discovery to join a leading Contract Research Organisation based in the Cambridgeshire area. As the Group Leader - Drug Discovery you will be responsible for mentioning, coaching and developing a team of High Throughput Screening Scientists focused on developing and running biological assays for screening of novel drug targets.

This position would suit an experienced line manager with history of developing and supporting a team of Scientists. Experience with High throughput screening assays and drug target screening would be beneficial.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Group Leader - Drug Discovery will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. To mentor and coach direct reports in achieving their potential and advancing their careers. Guide junior members of the team and offer training and support where required.

2. Lead the team and offer technical advise for troubleshooting assays and support the transition to high throughput sequencing. You will maintain an active interest in update and changes to screening technology.

3. Ensure projects run on time and to budget. You will interact internally with Programme Managers as well as directly with external clients.

4. You will have the opportunity to support business development activities and sit on wider business teams to ensure the continued success of the business.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Group Leader - Drug Discovery we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in a Life Sciences discipline in addition to previous experience running Biological Assays, ideally High throughput screening ( HTS ).

2. Proven industry experience as a Direct Line Manager where you have supported staff with their development and training.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience in a CRO would be beneficial.
