Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Group Leader - Upstream Processing R&D to join a leading CDMO company based in the Berkshire area. As the Group Leader - Upstream Processing R&D you will be responsible leading 3 separate groups focused on developing new and innovative technologies to improve their Upstream Process Development services.

This opportunity would suit an experienced Mammalian Cell Culture specialist looking for the opportunity to increase their leadership experience with larger teams and the opportunity to contribute to the R&D strategy.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Group Leader - Upstream Processing R&D will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Develop R&D strategy for the discovery, design and development of innovative Biologics platforms, processes and technologies related to Mammalian Cell Culturing and Upstream Processing.

2. Manage 3 Research groups with up to 15 second line reports. Ensure that the staff are mentored and trained accordingly to ensure project targets are achieved.

3. Be the subject matter expert within Mammalian and Upstream R&D for Biological products including complex therapeutic molecules.

4. Understand GMP requirements to ensure effective transfer of technologies and processes to the manufacturing teams.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Group Leader - Upstream Processing R&D we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in a Life Sciences discipline in addition to extensive experience and knowledge of Biologics Manufacturing Processes, specifically Upstream processes.

2. Proven industry experience with Mammalian Cell Culture and Cell Biology R&D, ideally where you have worked with different product types.

3. Previous experience of line management and leadership where you have had strategic responsibility and direction.
