Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Laboratory Scientist to join a exciting biotechnology company based in Scotland on a contract basis . As the Laboratory Scientist you will be responsible for providing additional support to the Laboratory Team by working on specific aspects of an ongoing project for an external client.Key Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Laboratory Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:1. As a Laboratory Scientist you will be preparing bacterial media while under aseptic conditions
2. Isolating bacteriophage and determining their specificity against various different strains of bacteria
3. You will be required to keep a laboratory notebook and also write reports
4. You will be evaluating samples for bacterial content and determining bacterial susceptibility to different phage
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Laboratory Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. Relevant degree in a scientific discipline (Biology based degree preferred e.g biomedical science, microbiology or Biological sciences)
2. Proven industry experience in various microbiological techniques such as making bacterial media, propagating bacteria on to solid and liquid media and sterilisation using autoclaves.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with Bacteriophage (Highly desirable)
