Role Overview
We are currently looking for a Lead Bioinformatics Scientist to join a leading biotech company based in the Macclesfield area. As the Lead Bioinformatics Scientist you will be responsible for leading a team of Bioinformatics Scientists and projectsKey Duties and Responsibilities
Your duties as the Lead Bioinformatics Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:1. Lead a team of Bioinformatics Scientists to manage and develop bioinformatics tools to analyse large proteomics and phosphoproteomics datasets.
2. Help to streamline / semi-automate the current bioinformatics workflows (e.g., building apps in Shiny) so that data analysis tools are available for colleagues who are not proficient in programming.
3. Build new and innovative Bioinformatic solutions as well as keep up to date with new technology and advise on topics relevant to the field of proteomics and bioinformatics
4. Bioinformatics analyse using Python and R
Role Requirements
To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Lead Bioinformatics Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:1. PhD qualification or equivalent experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, or similar discipline
2. Proven industry experience in proteomic bioinformatics
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with handling, modelling, and drawing inferences from large volume biological datasets
