Role Overview

Are you an experienced Opto-mechanical engineer looking for a new exciting job opportunity?

We are currently looking for an Opto-Mechanical Engineer to join an expanding technology company based in the Fife area.

As the Optical Engineer you will be working with both internal R&D and external equipment manufacturers to integrate the company's technology into a Reel to Reel full web width production line.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Opto-Mechanical Engineer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. You will be primarily responsible for designing opto-mechanical components and mechanisms to enclose, align and retain optical elements for the HOE production replication system.

2. You will also be involved in the development of mechanical systems and components for the thin film material handling, alignment and registration.

3. As the opto-mechanical engineer, you will be working with the operations team and will include liaising with external suppliers and partners to fulfil the development build and commission of new machinery.

4. Lastly, you will also be responsible for the design and manufacture of jigs and fixtures for existing pilot / prototype production processes.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Optical Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree (BSc, MSc or ideally PhD) in Optics or Photonics and mechanical design experience in an optics environment is essential.

2. You will also need experience with 3D modelling using SolidWorks and experience of working with optics, lasers and vision systems in an automated production environment.

3. Experience with mechanical design of high-volume automated manufacturing equipment is ideal.
