Role Overview

We are currently looking for an experienced Senior Scientist within Histology to join a leading life sciences company based in the Edinburgh area. Our client are known for offering specialist preclinical contract research services to Pharmaceutical & Biotechnology companies focussed on specialised multiplex Histology, Immuno-Oncology, Immunology and Neuroscience.

As the Senior Scientist - Histology you will be responsible for performing complex immunofluorescence and immunohistochemical staining assays including multi-plex assays, in-situ hybridisation and other molecular tissue probing techniques. You will also take an active role in exciting project management and business development alongside R&D activities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Senior Scientist - Histology will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Independently performing complex fluorescent and colourimetric staining assays including multi-plex assays (4-9 plex), and designing and performing RNAscope cell and tissue assays.

2. Actively reviewing and analysing scientific literature to understand relevant technical protocols with relation to client projects.

3. Working as part of the company team and with academic contacts and clients to ensure delivery of high quality client projects in a timely manner, including implementing quality control steps and developing and updating SOPs.

4. Taking an active role in nurturing new and expanding client relationships, including presenting at conferences to capture new commercial opportunities.

5. As the Senior Scientist - Histology, you will additionally line manage reporting Scientists and delegate project tasks across the team.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Senior Scientist - Histology we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant degree in Biomedical or Biological Sciences - a PhD is considered advantageous, but not necessary.

2. Proven industry experience in a pharmacology, biotechnology, drug discovery or contract research organisation environment.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with immunoassays and image analysis.
