Mammalian Expression Systems (40+ Scientists) is a Centre of excellence within Biologics R&D, focused on the development of next generation of expression system technology. The Cell Engineering group, based in Cambridge UK, is a pivotal member of Mammalian Expression System Centre, focused on improving host cell line functionality through cutting edge science and technology innovations. As a Technologist you will support the delivery of R&D projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
o As a Technologist you will be contributing to the delivery of new mammalian expression hosts and vector systems for the expression of complex therapeutic proteins. o You will be Engineering mammalian cell lines (e.g. random integration, targeted integration and gene editing – e.g. CRISPR-based systems). o As a Technologist you will be generating mammalian expression vectors using state of the art assembly techniques. o You will be performing phenotypic characterisation of edited cell lines with relevant assays (e.g. NGS, ddPCR, qPCR and flow cytometry) and cell culture techniques (e.g., shake flask/ bioreactor).
o BSc/MSc Degree in Life Sciences / Science/ Molecular Biology o Practical experience within in an industrial/academic settings o Good technical background in molecular biology (electrophoresis, PCR, vector construction) and cell culture (preferably mammalian cells) with the aim of developing or manipulating mammalian expression systems.
