Role Overview

We are currently looking for a Upstream Bioprocess Engineer to join a leading Cell and Gene Therapy company based in the London area. As the Upstream Bioprocess Engineer you will be responsible for the development of upstream manufacturing for Cell and Gene therapies/ATMPs.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Your duties as the Upstream Bioprocess Engineer will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Leading, planning and executing experiments for the scale up and development of GMP manufacturing of Cell and Gene Therapies. You'll be working on various projects as a subject matter expert.

2. Working with mammalian cell culture (e.g HEK cells, IPSCs, stem cells) and lab scale bioreactors such as stirred tank, hollow fibre or single use etc..

3. As a Upstream Bioprocess Engineer, you will use Design of Experiment (DoE) and method validation to improve experimental plans.

4. Designing closed and automated processes with bioreactors for the application to Cell and Gene therapies while supporting tech transfer to manufacturing scale.

Role Requirements

To be successful in your application to this exciting opportunity as the Upstream Bioprocess Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

1. Relevant PhD in a Life Sciences Engineering degree such as Biochemical engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering etc...

2. Industry experience is desirable within upstream processing in a Cell and Gene Therapy Company.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with bioreactor design for mammalian cell culture and ideally within Cell and Gene Therapy.
