Business Development Manager - CDMO

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Clinical Services Business Development Manager to join a leading organisation in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sector. This exciting opportunity is based within an innovative company that specialises in providing development and commercial services for the pharmaceutical industry. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving new business growth, expanding client relationships, and promoting the company’s clinical service offerings across the UK, EU, and North American markets.

In this pivotal role, you will be working closely with technical and leadership teams to identify market opportunities, develop strategic approaches, and deliver growth aligned with the company’s business plans. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the Clinical Services Business Development Manager will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
    • Actively seek out and develop new business opportunities for clinical services, including identifying potential markets, clients, and partnerships.
    • Create and implement strategies to generate new enquiries and convert prospects into active clients.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, understanding their needs, and developing tailored proposals.
    • Pitch the value and benefits of clinical services to diverse stakeholder groups, supporting business growth.
    • Manage the entire sales pipeline, including lead generation, client negotiations, proposals, and contract finalisation.
    • Set and work towards sales forecasts, actively tracking progress and adjusting strategies as needed.
    • Support internal administration and opportunity management via CRM systems.
    • Represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and exhibitions to network, gather market intelligence, and develop competitor profiles.
    • Provide regular management reports on business development activities, including insights from customer feedback.
    • Develop marketing strategies and budgets for clinical business growth and manage related activities.
    • Collaborate with Project Managers and other teams to ensure the successful delivery of client projects.
    • As the Business Development Manager, you will actively contribute to strategic planning, customer relationship management, and the promotion of new services.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Clinical Services Business Development Manager we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
    • A Degree or higher level in a chemistry / science-based subject or proven experience in the clinical field.
    • Strong technical and scientific background with experience managing project lifecycles, especially within CRO/CMO environments.
    • Knowledge and understanding of analytical and formulation development, including experience working with formulation scientists and analytical development teams.
    • Proven experience in client-facing activities and generating new leads in a commercial setting.
    • Familiarity with GMP standards and regulatory requirements relevant to clinical services.
