An exciting opportunity for a Senior Data Scientist / Modelling Engineer to join a leading industrial organisation specialising in hazardous waste incineration, based remotely within the US. This role offers the chance to work on a high-impact project focused on improving operational stability, efficiency, and performance through advanced data-driven techniques, with occasional travel to Port Arthur, Texas.
You will join an existing project team to enhance and embed sophisticated modelling and optimisation solutions into live industrial systems, supporting real-world decision making and operational excellence. This role is ideal for someone with a strong engineering or physics background, looking to leverage data science skills in a challenging industrial environment.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIE
Your duties as the Senior Data Scientist / Modelling Engineer will be varied; however, the key responsibilities are as follows:
- Understand, analyse, and improve existing machine learning models and optimisation frameworks applied to complex physical systems
- Validate current models' behaviour through data analysis and system understanding
- Refine forecasting and optimisation models to enhance reliability and performance
- Support the transition of models from prototype to operational use within real-world industrial systems
- As the Senior Data Scientist / Modelling Engineer, you will collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure practical applicability and robustness of solutions
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Senior Data Scientist / Modelling Engineer we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in engineering, physics, or a related technical discipline (e.g., chemical, mechanical, petroleum)
- Proven experience in modelling physical systems, simulation, numerical modelling, or optimisation within industrial environments
- Hands-on experience with machine learning and data science, demonstrated through practical project work
- Strong Python skills and experience with scientific computing tools
- Experience working with real-world operational data and supporting the integration of models into live systems
