We are currently looking for a Managing Director – Services to join a leading science and technology organisation based in the UK to lead their dedicated Services division. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to take the helm of a well-established, scientifically credible services business within a rapidly growing innovative company.
As Managing Director – Services, you will have full responsibility for defining and driving the division’s strategy, operational excellence, and commercial success, all while leading a talented team. This is a unique chance to shape the future of a critical part of our client’s operations and deliver long-term impact through high-value services across public health, agriculture, and commercial sectors.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties as the Managing Director – Services will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
• Provide strategic leadership and direction for the Services division, setting goals that align with the organisation’s long-term vision.
• Drive business growth by expanding existing services such as contract research and testing, and developing new scalable offerings.
• Take full P&L accountability, ensuring sustainable revenue growth, improved margins, and effective resource planning.
• Lead and develop a high-performing leadership team within the division, establishing clear roles, accountability, and performance standards.
• As the Managing Director, you will foster strong customer relationships, lead commercial negotiations, and position the organisation as a trusted partner in high-value markets.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Managing Director – Services we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
• A Degree or higher level in a relevant field (e.g., Biological sciences, Environmental sciences, Chemistry) with proven leadership within a B2B services, consultancy, or solutions-driven environment.
• A track record of building and scaling service or commercial units, demonstrating success in managing cross-functional teams and delivering impactful commercial outcomes.
• Experience in complex, technical, or regulated environments, preferably within science-led, data-enriched, or R&D organisations.
