

ROLE OVERVIEW
A leading company in the gene therapy sector is seeking a Principal Scientist – Bioassay Development for a 12-month contract based in London, UK. This role offers the chance to work with a pioneering organisation focused on advancing gene therapies for chronic renal diseases.
As the Principal Scientist – Bioassay Development, you will play a critical role in the development and application of in vitro potency assays for gene therapy products, particularly those involving AAV.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Principal Scientist – Bioassay Development will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Design, develop, and qualify in vitro potency assays suitable for product release for human clinical trials.
2. Lead the development, execution, training, and troubleshooting of bioassays, ensuring high standards of laboratory practices.
3. Collaborate closely with research, clinical teams, and external collaborators to ensure successful project delivery.
4. Support the Regulatory team by providing technical expertise for regulatory submissions.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Principal Scientist – Bioassay Development we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in biological sciences.
2. Extensive industry experience in bioassay development and product characterisation, particularly for gene therapy products.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with AAV cell-based assay development, including infectivity, relative infectivity, expression, and functional assays.
