

We are currently looking for a Research Assistant to join a leading Protein Structure & Biophysics department based in the Discovery Science sector. As a Research Assistant, you will play a crucial role in the biophysical and structural characterisation of target proteins, aiding in the identification of new drug targets and novel antibody therapeutics.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your duties as the Research Assistant will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
1. Perform molecular biology tasks, including cloning, transformations, and bacterial cell culture, along with small and large-scale DNA preparation.
2. Maintain mammalian cell lines, conduct small and large-scale transfections, and harvest supernatants and cell pellets.
3. Engage in small-scale protein purification and analysis, as well as the preparation of cell membranes.
4. Manage biologics sample aliquoting, maintain accurate records using Excel and barcode scanning software, and respond to regular sample requests.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Research Assistant, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
1. Relevant degree in Biological Sciences or equivalent.
2. Proven industry experience in bacterial and mammalian cell culture.
3. A working knowledge and practical experience with handling large numbers of samples and using pipettes (manual, electronic, single, and multichannel).
