

ROLE OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity for a Research Scientist to join a leading global organisation specialising in the development of sustainable raw materials for the Life Sciences and Consumer Care sectors. Based in purpose-built laboratories at a prominent science park, our client is focused on harnessing innovative technologies to create impactful solutions that improve lives. As part of their Biotechnology R&T Group, you will play a key role in supporting the development and scale-up of cutting-edge fermentation processes within their expanding pipeline.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties as the Research Scientist will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
• To support the development, optimisation, and scale-up of microbial fermentation processes from laboratory to industrial scale, ensuring robust and efficient bioprocesses.
• To work closely with internal production teams and external partners to facilitate successful technology transfer and process commercialisation.
• To design, execute, and interpret experiments involving microbial strain engineering, including genetic manipulation and molecular biology techniques.
• To collaborate with cross-functional teams such as commercial, IP, regulatory, and sales to ensure processes meet project and business objectives.
• As the Research Scientist you will stay current with industry developments, identify new opportunities for process improvements, and contribute to innovative project proposals.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Research Scientist we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
• A Degree or higher level in microbiology, biotechnology, chemical engineering, or a related discipline; proven experience in developing scalable microbial processes.
• Experience with strain engineering, including culture and genetic manipulation of fungi, bacteria, or yeasts; strong molecular biology skills such as cloning, DNA & RNA manipulation, and organism transformation.
• Hands-on experience with microbial systems involved in downstream processing at laboratory, pilot, or manufacturing scales.
• Proven ability to transfer bioprocesses from lab to industrial settings, working effectively with multi-disciplinary teams.
