We are currently looking for a senior Electrical & Instrumentation SME to join a leading engineering and infrastructure support team based in the Walloonie region. This long-term mission offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to lead technical activities across multiple utilities and infrastructure projects on a major campus. The role involves ensuring the safety, compliance, and efficiency of electrical and instrumentation systems in a dynamic, regulated environment.
This is a key position within a multidisciplinary team, reporting directly to the Engineering Lead / Project Manager, and collaborating closely with external consultants, engineering offices, and construction teams. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role from design through to commissioning, driving standards and best practices across all project phases.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties as the Electrical & Instrumentation SME will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Act as the technical owner and subject matter expert for Electrical & Instrumentation packages across multiple utility projects, from conceptual design through to commissioning.
- Review and challenge URS, technical specifications, electrical drawings, PFDs, and calculations to ensure compliance with standards.
- Define and implement engineering standards, norms, and guidelines aligned with project and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, RFQ evaluations, supplier selection, HAZOPs, risk assessments, and safety reviews.
- Support construction activities with site presence for quality checks, safety inspections, FAT/SAT, and commissioning support.
- Ensure adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations, especially Belgian electrical safety standards (RGIE/equivalent), including BF5 certification.
- As the SME you will coordinate with multiple stakeholders, ensuring seamless project handover and compliance throughout all phases.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Electrical & Instrumentation SME we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- Proven experience in electrical design, calculations, technical specifications, RFQs, and commissioning activities within industrial or regulated environments.
- Extensive knowledge of Belgian electrical safety regulations (RGIE/equivalent) and a valid BF5 certification (training can be provided if necessary).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation in English and work effectively across all project phases.
- Strong safety awareness and experience working in highly regulated industries such as pharma, food, nuclear, or aerospace.
