

ROLE OVERVIEW
An exciting opportunity for a Senior HVAC & Black Utilities SME to join a leading pharmaceutical company supporting utilities and HVAC projects across multiple sites. This long-term mission offers the chance to work in a highly regulated environment, contributing to the success of critical infrastructure projects within the biopharmaceutical sector. The role is based at our client's site, with hybrid working arrangements during early project phases and on-site presence during construction and commissioning.
This position plays a vital part in ensuring the integrity, safety, and compliance of HVAC and utilities packages, supporting projects from conception through commissioning and handover. The successful candidate will be a key technical owner with a proven track record in regulated environments and extensive experience in utilities systems.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties as the SME HVAC - Black Utilities will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
- Acting as the technical owner for HVAC & Black Utilities packages, overseeing design, execution, qualification, and handover.
- Reviewing and challenging URS, PFDs, P&IDs, mass & heat balances to ensure technical compliance.
- Defining, reviewing, and supporting technical specifications and RFQ processes.
- Coordinating with engineering offices, suppliers, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Supporting HSE risk assessments such as HAZOP, What-if, FMEA, and QRA.
- Ensuring all activities meet cGMP, EHS, and quality standards.
- Participating in field follow-up, FAT/SAT, and ASTM E2500 / V-cycle qualification activities.
- Supporting handover processes and user training to ensure operational readiness.
- As the SME, you will be expected to demonstrate strong technical expertise, independence, and effective communication skills across all project phases.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the SME HVAC - Black Utilities we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
- A Degree or higher level in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Proven extensive experience (around 10 years minimum) in HVAC and utilities systems within pharmaceutical or similarly regulated environments.
- Solid knowledge of pharma / GMP requirements and experience in all project phases from design to qualification.
- Ability to review and define technical specifications and URS.
- Experience working with engineering offices and contractors.
- Fluency in French and English, with strong communication skills, autonomy, and rigor.
