Generics Trader

ROLE OVERVIEW

We are currently looking for a Generics Trader to join a leading UK pharmaceutical wholesaler based in Bedfordshire. This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven individual to become a key part of an expanding trading team within the healthcare supply chain.

This full-time, permanent role offers the chance to develop your career within a fast-growth environment, focusing on sourcing and trading generic medicines both domestically and internationally. With a focus on profit maximisation and building strong industry relationships, you will play a vital role in supporting our client's ongoing success in the healthcare distribution sector.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Your duties as the Generics Trader will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

• To facilitate the sourcing and trading of generic pharmaceutical products within UK and international markets, ensuring profitability and market competitiveness.
• To build and maintain strong relationships with manufacturers, wholesalers, pharmacies, and healthcare providers.
• To negotiate buying and selling prices to maximise margins and identify market opportunities through trend analysis and shortage identification.
• To manage customer inquiries, prepare quotations, and oversee order fulfilment, ensuring timely and accurate service delivery.
• As the Generics Trader, you will develop new business opportunities and support growth by expanding existing accounts and entering new markets.

ROLE REQUIREMENTS

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Generics Trader we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

• A Degree or higher level in a relevant field (e.g., Pharmaceutical Chemistry / Quality Assurance / Quality Management for QA roles).
• Proven experience in pharmaceutical trading, procurement, sales, or healthcare distribution, complemented by strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Excellent relationship-building, communication, and organisational abilities, with a focus on attention to detail.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
