

ROLE OVERVIEW
We are currently looking for a Laboratory Technician to join a leading organisation in the research and development sector based in Cheshire.
This exciting opportunity is ideal for a scientifically minded individual with hands-on laboratory experience who is eager to support scientists within a dynamic research environment, contributing to the development of innovative technologies and research programmes.
As part of a dedicated team, you will play a key role in supporting laboratory operations, conducting experimental activities and ensuring laboratory standards are maintained to support cutting-edge scientific projects.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Your duties as the Laboratory Technician will be varied however the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:
• Support scientists with the preparation and execution of laboratory-based experiments • Perform routine molecular biology and life science laboratory techniques in accordance with SOPs and study requirements
• Prepare laboratory reagents, buffers, media and analytical solutions for experimental work
• Carry out sample preparation, processing and storage whilst maintaining accurate records and laboratory documentation • Assist with the operation, maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment and ensure consumables are adequately stocked
• Perform general laboratory housekeeping, including waste disposal, glassware management and maintaining laboratory cleanliness • Ensure compliance with laboratory health and safety procedures, quality standards and Good Laboratory Practice principles
• Accurately record experimental data and assist with the generation of reports and documentation where required.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS
To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Laboratory Technician we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:
• A degree, HNC/HND, BTEC or equivalent qualification in Biological Sciences, Biomedical Science, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related life science discipline
• Hands-on laboratory experience gained through industry, research placements, academic research projects or laboratory technician positions • Practical experience of molecular biology or biological laboratory techniques such as PCR, DNA/RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, ELISA, cell culture, microbiology or related techniques
• Experience working to laboratory procedures, maintaining accurate records and following health and safety requirements within a laboratory environment
