Research Associate

A leading company in the biotechnology industry is seeking a Research Associate to join their discovery team based in the Cambridgeshire area. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for conducting high-quality bench research and performing in vitro assays that will significantly contribute to drug discovery efforts.

 

 

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Your duties as the Research Associate will be varied; however, the key duties and responsibilities are as follows:

 

  1. As the Research Associate, you will design, execute, and optimise a range of in vitro experiments to support early-stage oncology drug discovery projects, utilising cell-based and molecular biology techniques to generate high-quality, reproducible scientific data.
  2. As the Research Associate, you will perform DNA, RNA, and protein-based assays, analyse and interpret experimental results using appropriate statistical methods, and communicate scientific findings to project teams to support target validation and programme progression.
  3. As the Research Associate, you will maintain mammalian cell cultures and tissue-based systems, ensuring experiments are performed to a high scientific standard while accurately documenting data, protocols, and observations within electronic laboratory notebooks.
  4. As the Research Associate, you will contribute to the development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of laboratory workflows, assays, and experimental approaches, ensuring data quality, operational efficiency, and compliance with relevant laboratory procedures and standards.

 

 

ROLE REQUIREMENTS:

 

To be successful in your application to this exciting role as the Research Associate, we are looking to identify the following on your profile and past history:

 

1. Relevant degree in a scientific field such as biological sciences or a similar discipline.

2. Proven industry experience in oncology drug discovery research, including DNA, RNA, and protein-related methodologies.

3. A working knowledge and practical experience with cell handling and tissue culture techniques.
